About McClone Electric
When you call an electrician you’re letting somebody into your house or onto your job site, and you’re trusting that what they leave behind is safe for the next thirty years. That’s a lot to ask of a phone call.
Chris McClone started McClone Electric in 1981. His son Dustin runs it now. He’s the second generation, working the same county. Chris is enjoying a well deserved retirement.
There’s no franchise behind us, and no call center in another city routing your job to whoever’s closest. When you call, you get somebody from this county who already knows its roads, its inspectors and its power company.
We started with farmers
The first people to hire us were farmers, and they still do.
The business grew out of farm work: grain systems, livestock buildings, farm shops, three-phase out where the poles run thin. Farm work is the reason we ended up building custom control panels in our own shop rather than ordering them in. A farmer with a control problem needs somebody who can come and look at it, and a panel shipped in from three states away doesn’t come with anybody.
The rest grew out of that: houses, restaurants, offices, warehouses, churches, campgrounds, lake properties. The standard stayed the same as the buildings got bigger. Today commercial work is the backbone of what we do, split about evenly between agricultural businesses and everything else.

We are experts
That’s our line, and two generations have spent forty-five years in one county backing it up.
In that time we’ve wired new construction, fixed what was already there, and put in standby generators. We build control panels from the drawing to the last labeled wire, run communications cabling and cameras, and use infrared scanning to catch a hot spot before it turns into a fire.
Taking calls at two in the morning goes back to the start in 1981, and it has worked that way ever since.
Nothing is too big or too small. To us, a dead outlet in a bedroom and a 2000-amp service for a new building are the same business, and we’ll take either one. The full list is on our services page, and some of the jobs are on our work page.
Where we work
Warsaw, Winona Lake, Pierceton, North Webster, Syracuse, Leesburg, Milford, Claypool, Mentone, Silver Lake and Atwood, plus the farms in between. If you’re not sure whether you’re in range, call and ask. The answer is usually yes.

How we work
We’re licensed and insured.
Whatever we find, you hear it straight: that the panel is fine and you don’t need what you thought, or that it’s worse than you hoped and what it’ll cost to fix.
You get the work we promised, on the day we promised it, and we clean up after ourselves.
That’s most of it. This trade doesn’t have many secrets. It has people who do the work properly and people who don’t, and the difference shows up years later in somebody’s wall.
Still here
A lot of contractors don’t last five years. McClone Electric has been at this since 1981, through every downturn the county has had, because the people who hired us the first time hired us again and told somebody else.
That’s the whole business model, and it’s why we won’t put our name on work we’re not proud of. In a county where everybody knows everybody, a bad job follows you.
