Commercial Electrical Work

Every business is different.

A restaurant is not an office and an office is not a warehouse, and the electrical follows what actually happens in the building rather than what the building looks like from the road.

McClone Electric has been doing commercial work in Kosciusko County since 1981. The business is on its second generation.

The buildings we work in

Offices. Restaurants. Retail. Banks. Churches. Warehouses. Medical and dental offices. Apartments and rentals. Parking lots.

We also do a share of work along the orthopedics corridor.

Two you can walk into

Two restaurants we wired in Warsaw are open to walk into, Creighton’s Crazy Egg Cafe and Moe’s Southwest Grill, and what we did at each is on the Warsaw page.

Working around your hours

We work nights and weekends when a business cannot be shut down during the day.

In a lot of commercial buildings it is the only way the job gets done, because you cannot rewire a dining room at noon or take a warehouse dark in the middle of a shift. We would sooner sort that out at the start than spring it on you halfway through.

New buildings

When a new commercial building goes up, our work starts in the ground. We dig the trench, lay the conduit bank that sweeps in under the foundation, set the transformer pad, and put in the main gear and feeders when there is a building to hold them.

The most recent was the 2000-amp job on the Warsaw page.

Being in from the start is the design build side of it: making sure the proper steps are taken from start to finish, rather than working around decisions somebody else already made.

If you are the general contractor on a new building, see electrical subcontractor.

Lighting and LED retrofits

Interior lighting, high bays, parking lot and sign lighting, exit and emergency lighting.

On an LED retrofit there is usually a utility rebate available. We will help you with the paperwork; the filing itself is yours to send. We will not pretend otherwise or promise you a number.

Keeping it running

Exit and emergency lighting gets a monthly function test and an annual full-duration test, documented. The documentation is the part that matters when somebody asks for it.

Infrared scanning on the gear finds a connection running hot before it takes a circuit down. See maintenance.

We do not have customers on standing maintenance contracts. Most of this is arranged when it is needed. If you want somewhere to start, start with one walk-through.

When something goes down

Power out. A breaker that will not hold. Something smells hot. Storm damage to the service.

Whether it happens during business hours or after you have locked up for the night, somebody answers the phone, as they have since 1981. See emergency electrician.

For standby power we put in standby generators with an automatic transfer switch. For data and camera cabling, see communications cabling, and custom controls covers the control panels we build in our own shop.
